PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT

Sophie regularly brings music to life for general audiences, giving pre-concert talks, writing programme notes, presenting young people's concerts, and leading workshops. Her aim is always to reveal the story behind the music in an engaging and entertaining way.

Over the past few years she has given talks for the BBC, European Opera Centre, Hallam Sinfonia, Hallé, Imperial College Concert Society, Longborough Festival Opera, Nottingham Theatre Royal, Sheffield Recorded Music Society, Showroom Cinema, and University of the Third Age.

She writes notes and articles for the BBC (Proms and concert series) and other organisations including the Wigmore Hall.

Talks and presenting

Recent engagements include a pre-concert talk on Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov for the Royal Philharmonic at the Theatre Royal Nottingham and acting as chair and host of Longborough Festival Opera's launch event for Richard Bratby's book, Longborough Festival Opera: The First 30 Years.
